Re-Cert
Remove the short piece on training opportunities that are listed for 2009. Currently I don’t know of any pre-approved training so we will leave this area open except for the piece I copied from HRCI below and leave the section on Human Resource Professional Certification there.
Recertification: Earning Credit Hours
Earning recertification credit hours does not have to be costly or take you far from your work or home. You can earn many hours through your daily work responsibilities and other professional activities. In fact, you may already be doing activities that could count for recertification credit and not even know it!
Sixty credit hours must be accumulated during the three-year recertification cycle. Credit hours can be obtained through:
- continuing education,
- instruction,
- on-the-job experience,
- research and publishing,
- leadership, and
- Professional membership in a national HR professional association.
Tracking your re-certification is easy using the on-line HRCI tracker. To find out how to submit your credits, click on the Virtual Re-Certification Tour from the HRCI website. They will walk you through the entire process.
E-Learning is also available through the SHRM website. Click on Education and then e-Learning. The cost for a 1.25 credit course is $55 for SHRM members.
There are also webinars/webcasts available for credit. They are too numerous to list but you can find them on the HRCI site under Pre-Approval Programs, Searchable Directory of Approved Events.

Recertification
· Certified professionals must recertify every 3 years to keep their designation valid. Recertification can be accomplished by continuing education activities or taking the exam again.
· Recertification credits can be earned for attending educational sessions at the Annual Conference (and other HR-related events).
· Be sure to keep track of credits on the HRCI Recertification Credit Form. Hopefully this information is useful in determining which designation will be suited for you. Good luck and proceed in to the test area with the attitude that you are Certifiable!
